thanks everyone for the birthday wishes! silk is nice to the touch, and is a useful addition to any business casual wardrobe. what are your favorite fabrics? =)
I love your look! I wear a lot of business casual stuff too, so I'm always looking for new ideas on how to vamp mine up... I love the blue you picked for the shirt! It's so pretty :)
This outfit gets too thumbs up from me! Oh, how I envy your warm weather! I own comparable items but I can't bring myself to bundle up in anything but double or triple layers of long pants and long sleeves when it's below freezing outside. When I start wearing four layers of clothing and disappear from contact, it's time to send a search party. :)
Does machine washable silk exist? I always hesitate to buy silk because it's dry clean only.
I'm fond of quality artificial silk (made from cellulose) because it feels smooth and drapes like silk with less fragility. Some trade names for artificial silk are rayon, viscose, Tencel (Lyocell), Modal, etc. I think it's unfortunate that rayon and viscose have gotten bad reps for inferior quality. I own several Ann Taylor shirts made from Tencel (Lyocell) and Modal, and they've held up well. I also think a touch of spandex (most commonly known as Lycra) is key in well-fitting jeans. Lastly, I don't currently own any bamboo clothing but it's a fabric that interests me.
For some reason, I tend to spill all sorts of things on myself whenever I'm wearing silk. Like a bright red cocktail or ketchup or etc. My favorite fabric is luxtreme! :)
mmm yes, silk is so lovely! comfy and attractive. i also love organic cotton... the super soft kind. (: and i took those pictures at dusk/sundown/almost sunset time. best time of day for natural lighting!
